  We believe that the circumstances of your birth should hold no sway over the potential of your future.

  It does not matter to whom or where you were born, the color of your skin, how you identify yourself, or who you love. You are defined by what you do.

• We stand against organizations that practice hate as a political platform. 

  What is a greater threat to democracy than terrorists, nukes, and misinformation?  That which makes all of them possible:  Hate.  The blind hatred that one group can have for another without reason or cause.  Tribalism is an easy trap to fall into and one that blinds us to reality; making us susceptible to radicalization.

  Nationalism is a perversion of patriotism.  It claims that inclusion and diversity are weaknesses, and that success is predicated on the blind acceptance of the supremacy of one people, and the blind allegiance to the supremacy of one leader.

  Nothing could be less Democratic.

  Patriotism is about building each other up and embracing diversity as the source of a nation’s strength. “We the people” means all the people.  The American Constitution holds as true everything Nationalism seeks to corrupt:  freedom from tyranny - which requires our unwavering support of a free press, freedom of religion - all religions, and the right to vote for all citizens.

• We work to reform those institutions that actively harm their own citizens, or fail to keep them safe.

  The pursuit of happiness and the expectation of safety are not privileges, they are foundational expectations. 

  No citizen should live without access to vital healthcare, education, shelter, and fair legal representation.  Nor should these basic necessities ironically ruin the lives of those they save with massive debt and bankruptcy.

  Further, when citizens are abused, abducted, and killed by those sworn to protect them it is not simply a tragedy.  It is a fundamental breech of the social contract that justifies a government's existence.

• We promote international collaboration.

  Climate Crisis, Terrorism, Rising Nationalism, Misinformation Campaigns, Trade Deficits, Pandemics...

  The global issues of today have not only shown us how interconnected we are, but also how utterly interdependent we are. Bad actors in any nation quickly become problems for every nation, and no one government alone can solve them. Global issues require global solutions; networked international collaboration to stymie the spread of epidemics, reduce carbon emissions, de-radicalize populations, fuel economic prosperity, and promote scientific and technological advancement.

  There are many who fear globalization, and more specifically the change and responsibility it brings; but when we build walls we only imprison ourselves - while remaining completely vulnerable to the very issues we seek to protect ourselves from.

We are responsible for confronting the past,
fixing the present, and shaping the future.
